 serious retail technology and more

RetailByte Visitors,

Every year millions (maybe billons) of dollars and even more man-hours are wasted in the retail industry because of poor decisions and avoidable missteps.

I know a lot about traditional retail technology and building scalable multi-channel retail businesses.  As part of the pioneer technology team that built the sizeable multi-channel retailer babystyle, I oversaw the technology department for 8 years.  We started small, just an e-Commerce site in 1999, but we grew.  And not only what became a very sizeable online business, but we also integrated a significant direct mail channel and opened 20 high-end retail store locations.

In 2007, as the CIO, I stepped into Stila Cosmetics at a time where they required immediate technology expertise; there was no real warehouse management system, and the outsourced Direct To Consumer platform was (and I’m being kind) sufficiently problematic.  With a mix of my own software solutions and some of my favorite reliable partners, I created an end-to-end platform that will allow Stila to grow to their fullest potential.

I also built (and operate) an online business known as beautycrunch. beautycrunch, running on the retailbyte platform, is an authorized direct to consumer reseller that offers overrun and discontinued (but still very good) artistry brand beauty products. beautycrunch carries premium brands like Stila, Too Faced, DuWop, and Lola that attract artistry enthusiasts who are looking for a “better than good” deal.

I’m more than a technologist and developer, though.  I am a retail executive that understands and can respond to all areas of a retail business.  I architect, develop and interface retail systems that create predictable and manageable environments.

RetailByte is a retail blog where the goal is to bring to you, through my own and others' real world experiences, a wealth of multi-channel retail expertise and proven retail solutions.
